Search underway for new coach

Uvalde High School will have a new head football coach and athletic director for the next school year.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District is accepting applications to fill the position vacated by Gary Griffin, who recently resigned after six years to accept the head football coach and athletic director position at Brackettville High School.

Though it has only been a few days since the school district has advertised to fill the position, UCISD superintendent Jeannette Ball said that there is much interest in the position

“We’ve already had 35 coaches who have contacted us about the position,” said Ball. “We expect to have quite a few more before the cutoff date.”

Tomorrow is the deadline for coaches who are interested in applying for the position.

“The plan right now is to have a candidate for me to recommend to the school board by July 5 or so,” said Ball.
