Liza Elder and Dillon Thigpen were two of the top performers in the Uvalde Youth Rodeo Club’s third points night of the 2017 summer season.
Elder and Thigpen placed first in three different events held at the Uvalde Country Fairplex Arena last Monday night.
Elder won first-place honors in the 11- to 14-year-olds age division of cloverleaf barrels, straight barrels, and poles.
Thigpen captured first place in the 11- to 14-year-olds age division of ribbon roping, and tie-down roping. He also won first in the breakaway roping for 14-year-olds and under.
Kaitlynn McDaniel and Garrett Talamantes claimed first place in two events, while those who took top honors in one event were Mattie Elder, Ava Packouz, Stephanie Bullard, Whitt Gutierrez, Klacey Dean, Gracie Green, Cassidy Kusenberger, Jaycee McDaniel, Alyssa Chapoy, Haley Jacobs, Colton Greene, Kyle Stacks and Stetson Schuster.
Next Monday night, the URYC will host a practice night, while the fourth and final points night is scheduled for July 24.
The Uvalde Youth Rodeo Club’s big summer rodeo will be held Aug. 11-12.
