New rules implemented for football

Several rule changes have been made for Texas high school football this season.

On kickoffs, a fair catch of a kickoff made inside the 25-yard line will be brought out to the 25-yard line.

This rule is to encourage a safer game as more concussions occur during kickoff returns than on any other play.

The 40-second clock will be operated after touchdowns and after kickoffs. This change was made to speed up play.

Several changes have been made pertaining to blocking below the waist.
