The Uvalde Lobos were scheduled to compete in the Buda Hayes High School Invitational track-and-field meet on March 13.
But because of the health threat posed by the COVID-19 virus, the Uvalde High School girls withdrew from the meet.
“For the sake of the health of our athletes, we decided that it was best for us not to attend the meet,” said UHS girls head track-and-field coach Libby Guzman.
The Uvalde Coyotes were not scheduled to participate in the Hays meet.
Both the Coyotes and the Lobos were scheduled to participate in the Devine Relays set for yesterday, but that meet was canceled.
Next Saturday, the Uvaldeans were to vie in the Medina Valley Relays at Castroville, but that meet has been canceled.
