Lobos face Harlan Hawks in volleyball

The Uvalde Lobos will take on one of the top volleyball teams in the San Antonio area Tuesday when they face the Harlan Hawks in District 28-5A competition.

The varsity match will get started at 6 p.m., while the two sub-varsity matches will begin at 5 p.m.

Harlan, 20-8 for the season, currently is ranked number nine in the San Antonio Express-News Top 10 list of high school volleyball teams.

The Hawks, who are off to a 2-0 start in district play, and San Antonio Cornerstone, are the only non-Class 6A high school volleyball teams ranked in the Top 10.

Cornerstone is ranked tenth.

Coach Russell McElroy’s Lobos, 0-2 in district play, were to play the Southwest Dragons at Southwest Friday night.

Results from that match will be reported in Thursday’s edition of the Uvalde Leader-News.
