The Uvalde Lobos will tip off their 2019-20 basketball season Saturday when they host the Pearsall Lady Mavericks.
Varsity action in Harvey Kinchlow Gym is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. and will be preceded by a 10 a.m. freshman game and an 11:15 a.m. junior varsity game.
Fortino Patiño is the new Uvalde High School girls’ head basketball coach.
Patiño, who comes to UHS from Crystal City where he served as the girls’ head basketball coach, replaces Gisel Mireles, who retired from the UHS girls’ basketball post last spring.
UHS’s varsity will enter play Saturday coming off of a scrimmage against the San Antonio Fox Tech Lady Buffaloes last Saturday afternoon.
The Lobos outscored the Fox Tech girls, 52-26, in the scrimmage.
Members of the varsity team include seniors Klarissa Sonora, Rayleigh Watson, Lenisa Tomasini, Violet Gomez, Sarrah Luna, and Samantha Longoria, juniors A’Taisha Carroll, Natalie Santos, and Liza DeHoyos, sophomore Cecelia Cantu, and freshman Gabriela Victorino.
