The Southwest Legacy Titans and the San Antonio Harlan Hawks currently are tied for first place in the District 28-5A boys basketball race.
Those two teams will collide in head-to-head competition next Tuesday night at Legacy.
Harlan, 4-0 in district play, will host Medina Valley tomorrow night, before meeting Legacy next Tuesday night.
Monday afternoon, the Hawks posted a road victory over the Uvalde Coyotes.
Their other three district wins have come over Somerset, 78-40; Floresville, 100-72; and Southside, 102-73.
Harlan is the defending district champion.
Their only loss last season came against the Southwest Dragons.
Prior to the district showdown Tuesday, the Titans, 3-0 in district, will host their Southwest ISD rivals, the Southwest Dragons tomorrow evening at Legacy.
Monday, the Titans had an open date in their district schedule.
They have posted district wins over Southside, Uvalde, and Medina Valley.
The Titans recently lost a 78-33 non-district decision to the Boerne Champion Chargers in tournament action at Boerne.
Harlan, MV girls vie
Tomorrow afternoon at Medina Valley, the two top girls teams in the District 28-5A race will collide when the San Antonio Harlan Lady Hawks take on the Medina Valley Panthers.
The Lady Hawks, 5-0 and 18-5, topped the Uvalde Lobos in action Monday afternoon.
Harlan’s other district wins have come against Eagle Pass Winn, 66-33; Somerset, 75-43; Floresville, 72-51; and Southside, 64-39.
Medina Valley, 5-0 in district and 19-5 for the season, downed the Southwest Lady Dragons in action Monday afternoon at Southwest High School.
Before their victory over Southwest, the Panthers posted district wins over Floresville, 32-30; Southside, 48-39; Uvalde, 81-29; and Southwest Legacy, 65-52.
The Harlan girls are the defending district basketball champions.
They twice beat the Medina Valley girls last season, 55-35 at San Antonio and 55-50 at Castroville.
