Junction downs Sabinal in key district ball game

The Junction Eagles scored three touchdowns early and held off a second-half comeback bid by the Sabinal Yellowjackets to win a 34-27 district thriller played Friday night.

Running back Trevor Hamilton scored on a three-yard touchdown run and later caught a 58-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brian Black to give Junction a 13-0 lead in the first period.

With 3:42 left in the second period, running back Hudson Hearns scored for the Eagles on a 13-yard touchdown run.

Down 21-0, the Yellowjackets battled back to score on a 58-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Mario Quintanilla to wide receiver Mauricio Contreras.

Carlos Hill converted on the extra-point kick.
