Four members of the 2017 Uvalde Lobos volleyball team were selected to the District 29-5A All-District team.
Senior libero Cassandra Silva made the All-District first team, senior middle blocker Kayla Curtis made the second team, while juniors Makayla Perez and Deandra Vera both made the honorable mention team.
“When you come into a program and make philopsophical, strategy, and style changes, it can sometimes make the seaosn even more challenging than it really is. But with the great group of hard-working young ladies I had, we were able to make some good strides and progress this year,” said first-year Uvalde High School head volleyball coach Russell McElroy.
“It is exciting to have four of our Lobos recognized with All-District honors for their individual work,” said McElroy. “I am obviously proud of my entire team and program, but it is rewarding and it makes my heart swell to have two of my seniors recognized as they finish their Lobos career, and then to have two of our juniors recognized, as well. That shines positive light on what our future may hold.”
