Four district teams fall in playoff competition

All four of District 29-5A’s football playoff teams were eliminated last Friday as they lost to District 30-5A teams.

The District 30-5A champion and fourth-ranked Corpus Christi Calallen Wildcats beat the Uvalde Coyotes in Class 5A Division II bi-district action, 56-21, at Floresville.

Calallen, 11-0, will face Mercedes, 9-2, in a second-round playoff game at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

District 29-5A’s football champion Southside Cardinals lost a 21-2 decision to the Flour Bluff Hornets in Class 5A Division I action at Southside.
