Coyotes wind up 2017 campaign

The Uvalde Coyotes ended their 2017 football season in recent Class 5A Division II bi-district competition against the Corpus Christi Calallen Wildcats.

“It was a learning experience for our players,” said Uvalde High School head football coach R.T. Gonzales.

“Our kids were tentative and a little unsure of themselves early on. And they went up against a talented, well-coached, and very confident Calallen football team,” said Gonzales. “As the game went on, our kids played better, but by that time, we were too far behind to make a game of it.

“Some of our younger players got a lot of valuable experience by playing in the game. Hopefully, we can built on that experience going into next season,” said Gonzales.

With the bi-district loss, the Coyotes wound up with a season record of 6-5.
