The Uvalde Coyotes began pool play in the South Texas Baseball Classic with a pair of wins Thursday at Corpus Christi.
They trounced the Kingsville Brahmas, 12-0, and edged the Houston Northside Falcons, 12-11.

Coach Ricky Salazar’s Coyotes, 5-1 for the season, were to continue tournament play with Friday action against the Corpus Christi Carroll Tigers and the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears.
Action in the three-day tournament was scheduled to wind up yesterday.
