Coyotes open district on the road

Uvaldeans play Cards tomorrow

The Uvalde Coyotes and the Southside Cardinals will be looking to open District 29-5A play with a victory tomorrow night as they collide in the district football competition.

Kick-off time for the game in Southside ISD Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m.

Coach Ricky Lock’s Cardinals begin district play sporting a 3-2 season record.

The Cardinals have recorded wins over: San Antonio Memorial, 34-14; Crystal City, 31-20; and Leander Glenn, 42-35.Their two losses have come against: Beeville Jones, 20-14; and La Vernia, 28-6.

“Southside is much better than their 3-2 record might indicate. The Cardinals lost to Beeville and La Vernia, two teams that were in the post-season playoffs last season. With a few more breaks in their favor, they may well have have won those two games,” said Uvalde High School head football coach R.T. Gonzales.
