Coyotes host football scrimmage

The Uvalde Coyotes will face their first opponent of the football pre-season Saturday when they host the two-time defending District 29-6A champion Del Rio Rams.

Action in the varsity scrimmage is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in Uvalde’s Honey Bowl.

Prior to that the Coyotes and the Rams will go at it in sub-varsity scrimmage action beginning at 9 a.m.

New UHS head football coach R.T. Gonzales has set some modest, but important goals for his team going into their first scrimmage of the season Saturday.

“Our main goal for the scrimmage is to make sure everyone can execute our basic schemes,” said Gonzales. “By that, I mean we want to be able to execute our expectations on both side of the ball.
