Coyotes, Calallen wind up playoff

The Uvalde Coyotes were scheduled to wind up their best-of-three, bi-district baseball playoff series against the Corpus Christi Calallen Wildcats at home yesterday.

Game two of the series was set for a 3 p.m. start at Marvin Kolinek Field.

If needed, game three of the series was to follow game two.

Action in the series was set to begin Friday night at Corpus Christi.

Complete results from the Uvalde-Calallen series will be reported in next Thursday’s edition of the Uvalde Leader-News.

The winner of the Uvalde-Calallen series will advance to play in a regional second-round playoff against the winner of the bi-district series between the Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots and the Donna Redskins.

Friday, the series was scheduled to begin at Donna, while the site for the series was to switch to Mission yesterday for a possible doubleheader.

Coach Ricky Salazar’s Coyotes, 10-14-1 for the season, will entered the bi-district series coming off of a 3-0 victory over the Eagle Pass Winn Mavericks in their district finale.
