Uvalde High School football fans will be doing more driving for district road games during the next two seasons.
Under the new alignment of schools announced by the University Interscholastic League last Thursday morning, UHS’s new district, 14-5A Division II, will include Alamo Heights, Boerne Champion, Kerrville Tivy, Lockhart, Medina Valley and San Antonio Kennedy and Memorial.
“Travel is going to be tough for us in our new district,” said UHS head football coach and athletic director R.T. Gonzales.
“But we are embracing the challenges of the new district,” said Gonzales.
“It should be fun to renew some old rivalries with schools like Kerrville Tivy and Medina Valley,” said Gonzales.
“We will begin next season with a young, inexperienced team. But we return a core of good varsity players,” said Gonzales. “Our challenge is to prepare our players to face some tougher district competition.”
