All-Stars begin tournament play


Two local baseball teams will begin Uvalde Little League District 21 All-Star tournament play here this week.

Tuesday night at 8 p.m., the Uvalde Grey All-Stars will face the Pearsall All-Stars, while the Uvalde White All-Stars will go up against the Somerset All-Stars on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Tourney games for the 8- to 10-year-olds will be played at the City of Uvalde baseball complex located just off of Garner Field Road beyond Uvalde Memorial Hospital.

Members of the Uvalde Grey team are Aidan Mata, Cameron Santos, Ezequiel Cabralez, Francisco Perez, Wyatt Hughes, Ruben Flores, Marcus Puerta, Francisco Torres, Jordan Albarado, Joseph Piñeda, Jett Flores, Raymond Rodriguez and Jaden Bustamante.

Matt Hughes is the manager of the Grey team.

The members of the Uvalde White team are Aedynn Barboza, Cody Buegeler, Zerrick Valdez, Abraham Gonzales, James Treviño, Derek De La Cruz, Michael Henao, Jordan Castillo, Jayson Rosas, Jose Garcia IV, Jose Adan Rodriguez, Adam Victorino and Matthew Blanco.

Lalo Diaz is the manager of the team.

Uvalde’s Major League All-Star team will start district play tomorrow night at Jourdanton.

They will face Pearsall at 8 p.m.

Players on the Uvalde All-Star team are Dylan Rodriguez, Jacob Hill, Jonathan Jimenez, Jarrett Hernandez, Christopher Rodriguez, Lorenzo Castillo, Frank Salazar, Damian Rivera, Eddy Beza, Jose Vasquez Jr., Julian Puerta, Sebastian Avila and Augustine Aviles.

Juan Hernandez is the All-Stars manager.

Uvalde’s 11-year-olds and under All-Star baseball team will begin tourney play on Friday in Uvalde.

They will play San Antonio Five Diamonds, beginning at 8 p.m. in Uvalde.

Players on that team include Beau Beza, Cason Buegeler, Landon Welch, Ryan Santos, Diego Garza, Richard Gonzales, Caden Smith, Jose Lopez, Christopher Mata, Joshua Verdusco, Richard Guardiola and Rylan Diaz.

Ignacio Mata is the manager of the All-Star team.

The Uvalde Junior Division All-Stars will begin action in the district tournament in Uvalde on Friday at Marvin Kolinek Field.

They will go up against Devine All-Stars in an 8 p.m. baseball contest.

The players for the Uvalde All-Stars include Matthew Santos, Landon Cox, Preston Stevens, Ernest Garza, Alex Perez, Nathan Barboza, Julian Ortiz, Issac Hernandez, Ethan Cavasos, Josh Guevera, Diego Cardenas, Austin Lopez, and Malik Castro.

Manager of the team is Tito Guevara.

The Uvalde 8- to 10-year-olds All-Stars were to begin District 21 Little League softball tournament action last night.

Under the original schedule, the Uvaldeans were to face the Dilley All-Stars last night.

But one team pulled out of the tournament at the last minute.

District administrator Barbara LeStourgeon redrew the tourney schedule.

Now, the Uvalde girls will play the Devine All-Stars in a 6 p.m. matchup tomorrow night.

The Uvalde-Devine will will advance to play the Jourdanton All-Stars in a 6 p.m. game Wednesday,

Jourdanton drew an opening-round bye in the first round of the tourney.

The Uvalde-Devine loser will face the winner of the 8 p.m. game tomorrow between Hondo and San Antonio Five Diamonds.

That tourney consolation game is set for 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Uvalde’s All-Star team includes Sienna Mirelez, Amerie Garcia, Kyndra DeHoyos, Jaelyn Gleason, Mia Saiz, Destiny Edison, Natalee Rangel, Carolina Flores, Veronika Jimenez, Jacelyn Ortegon, Natalia Cabralez, Deliah De La Cruz and Jenalyn Contreras.

David Hernandez is the manager of the team.

The winner of the Uvalde-Dilley game will advance to play Jourdanton at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, while the loser will play the loser of the Pleasanton-Natalia game on Wednesday.

All District 21 tournament schedules are subject to change.

Though Uvalde does not have a Junior Division All-Star girls softball team, Uvalde will host the district softball tournament.

That tourney is set to begin on June 29.

Jourdanton will host the Major Division softball tournament.

Uvalde does not have an entry in that division of the district tournament
