Weston R. Alspaugh

Weston Ray Alspaugh, 26, of San Antonio, formerly of Uvalde, died on Nov. 1, 2017, at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

He was born on Aug. 7, 1991, in San Antonio to Beverly Faust Broom and Wesley Alspaugh.

He lived in Uvalde until the age of 10, when he moved with his family to San Antonio. He attended MacArthur High School in San Antonio and Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde, where he obtained welding certification and became a welder.

He married Anastasia Merrill in 2015 in Wimberley.

The family says Alspaugh had a loving and kind nature, a smile that always made you feel like he was happy to know you, and musical talent that brought everyone together.

Alspaugh is survived by his wife; and one daughter, Lily Merrill, both of San Antonio; his mother and stepfather, Mike Broom, of La Vernia; father and stepmother, Kim Alspaugh, of San Antonio; four sisters, Amaris White and husband, David, of Smithville, Whitney Alspaugh and Caelin Alspaugh, both of San Antonio, and Michaela Broom of La Vernia; grandparents, Joyce and Billy Faust of La Vernia, Carolyn Alspaugh of Kerrville, and Patricia and Tom Broom of Mayhill, New Mexico; two nieces, Brylee White and Brennan White of Smithville; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A viewing was held at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A service was held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Uvalde. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Peyton officiated.

Pallbearers were David White, William Schumann, Mitchell Schumann, Kenneth Bohannan, T.J. Bowden and Karl Bowden.

Honorary pallbearers were John Leatham and Lonnie Matthews.
