Virginia Leija, 67, of Sabinal died on Jan. 8, 2019, at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.
She was born on May 11, 1951, in San Isidro, Coahuila, Mexico, to Luciana (Vasquez) and Felix Zavala.
She married Agapito Leija in San Isidro, Coahuila, Mexico, on April 10, 1968.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Laura Estrada and husband, Jose, of San Antonio, Marisol Davis of San Antonio, and Maria Lozada and husband, Julio, of Sabinal; two sons, Tiburcio Leija of Sabinal, and Agapito Leija Jr. and wife, Gloria, of Donna; two sisters, Francisca Gonzales of Uvalde, and Consuelo Cortez of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico; brother Seferino Zavala of Eagle Pass; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Siria Ruiz, Martha Zavala, Josefina Cortez and Maria Zavala; three brothers, Fidel Zavala, Martin Zavala and Santos Zavala; and daughter-in-law Laura Felicita Leija.
A prayer service was held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal. A funeral service was held on Friday at noon at the same location. Interment followed at Sabinal Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Agapito Leija Jr., Tiburcio Leija, T.J. Leija, Antonio Leija, Joe Estrada Jr., Aaron Davis and Jesus Manuel Davis.
