Valeriano Navarro, 86, of Uvalde died on Nov. 6, 2018, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.
He was born on March 19, 1932, in Musquiz, Coahuila, Mexico, to Angelita (Perez) and Amador Navarro.
He married Maria De Jesus Castillo Navarro on Sept. 30, 1954, in Palaú, Coahuila, Mexico.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, of Uvalde; two daughters, Pura Elizalde and husband, Jose Luis, and Elva Sorola and husband, Gustavo, all of Uvalde; two sons, Amador Navarro of Odessa and Fernando C. Navarro and wife, Norma, of Dallas; two brothers, Jose A. Navarro of San Antonio and Mario P. Navarro of Uvalde; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lilia N. Musquiz, Beatriz N. Reyes and Trinidad N. Reyes; and two brothers, Amador P. Navarro and Gonzalo P. Navarro.
A rosary was recited on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
A funeral mass was held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Francisco Marines III, Al Ramirez III, Jose Luis Elizalde Jr., Valeriano Elizalde, Amador Navarro, Fernando Navarro Jr. and Fernando C. Navarro Sr.
