Terecita S. Avila
Terecita Sanchez Avila, 63, of Hobbs, New Mexico, formerly of Uvalde, died on Aug. 2, 2017, at Covenant Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in La Pryor at 6 p.m. A celebration of life will follow, held in the church hall.
She was born on Feb. 14, 1954, in Cotulla, to Regina Carbajal and Jose Maria Sanchez.
She married Homero Ramirez Avila on Jan. 26, 1973, in Laredo.
Avila followed her husband when he moved for work, which resulted in the couple residing on numerous ranches for the remainder of her adult life. She enjoyed cooking and baking: caring for others: and loved Tejano music. The family says she was a beloved wife and a loving mother and grandmother.
Avila is survived by her husband of 44 years, of Hobbs, New Mexico; two daughters, Raquel Avila and husband, Arnulfo R. Villanueva, and Noemi Alvarado and husband, John Paul, all of Hobbs, New Mexico; one son, Homero Avila Jr. of Austin; five grandchildren, Megan Rae Dunkle, McKenzi Elizabeth Dunkle, Alexis Raeanne Villanueva, Xavier Julian Alvarado and Jordyn Alvarado; five brothers; five sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
