Steven A. Talavera

Steven Anthony Talavera, 60, of San Antonio died on July 20, 2017, in San Antonio.

He was born on Feb. 19, 1957, in San Antonio to Dorothy (Berry) and Carlos Talavera.

Talavera was an avid sports fan who followed the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys. He was known for his collections, including Hot Wheels, coins, Star Wars merchandise and skulls, as well as Funko Pop! items. The family says he will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, and one sister, Pamela Marie Talavera.

He is survived by his father, of San Antonio, formerly of Uvalde: one brother, Carlos Talavera and wife, Denise, of Corpus Christi; one sister, Kathy Hellum and husband, Tony, of San Antonio; three stepbrothers, Raul Talavera, of Arizona, and Mario Talavera and Hector Talavera, both of Uvalde; one stepsister, Maria Garcia of California; one uncle, Manuel Talavera of Uvalde; two aunts, Elvira Montalvo of Odessa, and Estella Silva of Uvalde; two nieces and three nephews; four great-nieces and one great-nephew; and numerous other family members and friends.

A visitation was held yesterday at 1 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio.
