Santos Echavarria, 87, of Uvalde died on Jan. 14, 2018, in Uvalde.
He was born on March 1, 1930, in Loving, New Mexico, to Manuela (Mendoza) and Ascencion Echavarria.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; two brothers, Pedro Echavarria and Juan Echavarria; and one sister, Santos Gomez.
Echavarria is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria Angelina Perez Echavarria; five daughters; Deariela Rangel and husband, Roberto, of Amarillo, Maria Martinez and husband, Mario, of Plainview, Nancy Sanchez and husband, Miguel, Aracely Garza and husband, Juan, and Eva Echavarria; and one son, Mario Antonio Echavarria and wife, Blanca, all of Uvalde; one sister; Romana Peña; and one brother Carlos Echavarria, both of Anahuac, Mexico; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Serenity at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, 424 Geraldine Street, Uvalde, Texas.
A mass of Christian burial was held yesterday at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.
