Rosa Canales, 87, of Uvalde died on Nov. 26, 2019, in Uvalde.
She was born on June 10, 1932, in Cline to Eloisa Montalvo-Lugo and Eusebio Lugo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Frank B. Canales; son, Frank Canales; brother, Gustavo Lugo; two sisters, Alma Costilla and Esperanza Cano; and great-grandchild, Derek Angel Ramon.
She is survived by two sons, Arnold Canales and wife, Patricia, and Florencio Canales, all of Uvalde; daughter, Rosie Canales and husband, Jose Alberto Ruiz, of Uvalde; three brothers, Eliseo Lugo of Wisconsin, Ruben Lugo and Eleazar “Lee” Lugo, both of Uvalde; sister, Elizabeth Lugo of Uvalde; seven grandchildren, Keesha Kady Ruiz, Kiana Alysia Ruiz, Isaiah V. Canales, Isaac V. Canales, Deanna Nicolle Canales, Cassandra Marie Canales, Christen Rennee Canales; and five great-grandchildren, Ian X. Rivas, Israel C. Rivas, Isaellie Rose Gutierrez, Inaellie Rae Gutierrez, Mathew Rae Gutierrez, all of Uvalde.
Visitation was held from noon to 9 p.m. Nov. 29-30 in the Chapel of Serenity at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30. A funeral service was held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Templo Cristiano, 231 N. Park St., with interment following at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, 527 Lovers Lane.
Pallbearers were Isaiah V. Canales, Isaac V. Canales, and Anthony J. Lugo, all of Uvalde, Juan Cantu Jr. and Juan Cantu III, both of McAllen, and Donald Lugo, of Georgetown.
