Roger E. Watkins

Roger Ellis Watkins, 77, of Uvalde, died on Feb. 7, 2018, in San Antonio.

A service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.

He was born on Nov. 12, 1940, in Uvalde to Martha Thomas Rogers Weightman and Clyde O’Neil Watkins.

Watkins graduated from Uvalde High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in Germany. He was employed in the livestock industry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Phoebe Beaumont Watkins Franklin.

Watkins is survived by one daughter, Shanna Coombs Graves and husband, Browder, of Uvalde; two grandchildren, Aaron Graves and Garrett Graves; one sister, Martha “Molly” W. Hardesty of Waller; two brothers, Harry O’Neal Watkins and wife, Joy, and Beaumont Weightman Watkins and wife, Anna, all of Uvalde; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal School,  343 N Getty St, Uvalde, TX 78801.
