Roberta Garza, 72, of Batesville died on Oct. 30, 2018, in Uvalde.
She was born on July 13, 1946, in Batesville to Maria (Rios) and Jesus Villarreal.
A visitation will be held today from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m., both at the Chapel of Serenity at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home of Uvalde.
A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Templo Hermosa in Batesville.
The family says Garza loved cooking, laughing and joking with everyone; the greatest passion in her life was her family. She never met anyone who she did not befriend and her smile lit up even the darkest room.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jesus Garza Sr.; her parents; son; Jesus Garza Jr.; two brothers, Jesus Villarreal and George Villarreal; and four sisters, Petra Saldaña, Marines Villarreal, Maria Martinez and Teresa Saldaña.
Garza is survived by two sons, Eugenio Garza and wife, Yolanda, and Miguel Angel Garza; six daughters, Janie Maldonado and husband, Joey, Esmeralda Garza, Guadalupe Maldonado and husband, Ismael, Enedina Cardona and husband, Jerry, Esperanza Garza and companion, Luis Martinez, all of Batesville, and Roberta Torres and husband, Rosendo, of San Antonio; brother, Jose Villarreal; sister, Maggie Saldaña of Batesville, Texas, 22 grandchildren and 23 great-children.
Gentlemen serving as Pallbearers are Blake Allen Reppert, Eric Lee Reppert, Clayton Lewis Martinez, Anthony Maldonado all of Batesville, Davian Torres of San Antonio, Nathan Maldonado of Uvalde. Honorary Pallbearers are Jess Garza and Zachary Garza of Batesville.
