Richard C. Lara
Richard C. Lara, 89, of Uvalde died on March 9, 2018, at Amistad Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Uvalde.
He was born on July 9, 1928, in Uvalde to Leonor (Chapoy) and Facundo Lara.
He is survived by four daughters, Lupe Zavala and husband, Valente, Zulema Porras and husband, Sergio, Cecilia Jordan and husband, Michael, and Liza Lara, all of Uvalde; one son, Richard Lara Jr. and wife, Monica; one sister, Janice Estrada; and two brothers, Frank Hidalgo and Ben Hidalgo Jr., all of Uvalde; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josefa Ybarra Lara; parents; stepfather, Ben Hidalgo; one brother, Arnold Lara; one sister, Elida Gonzales; and one great-granddaughter, Gianna Salazar.
A rosary was recited on Monday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
A funeral mass was held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mario Gonzales, Sergio Porras Jr, Carlos Ovalle, Bryan Boggan, Fred Suarez, Sergio Alejandro Porras, John Suarez and Ruben Sanchez.
