Ricardo Castillo, 64, of Uvalde died on Feb. 5, 2020, in San Antonio.
A funeral service will take place today at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Serenity at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home at 424 Geraldine St., with interment following at Hillcrest Cemetery, 527 Lovers Lane.
Visitation took place from noon to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a prayer service was held at 7 p.m. on both days.
According to the family, Castillo was known as the best appliance technician in Uvalde and the surrounding areas. They take comfort knowing that his legacy will continue through organ donation, through which he will save three lives.
Castillo was born July 4, 1955, in Mexico to Puraficacion (Cuellar) and Carlos Castillo.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Reyes Castillo of Uvalde; four sons, Jose Carlos Castillo and Jesus Castillo and wife, Rachel, all of Uvalde, Ricardo Castillo and wife, Zwanyka Sanchez, of La Pryor, and Roberto Castillo and wife, Julie, of Friendswood; daughter, Sonia C. Ochoa of Uvalde; six brothers, Eduardo Castillo, Juan Castillo and wife, Ana, Jose Castillo, Jorge Castillo and wife, Stacey, all of Uvalde, Rogelio Castillo of La Pryor, and Carlos Castillo and wife, Lupe, of Fort Worth; four sisters, Yolanda Perez and husband, Joe, Puraficacion Castillo, Maribel Castillo, and Lisa Garcia and husband, Antonio, all of Uvalde; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother; son, Robert R. Castillo; and two sisters-in-law, Guadalupe Castillo and Linda Castillo.
Pallbearers will be Jose Carlos Castillo, Jesus Castillo, Luis Ochoa and Aciel Ochoa, all of Uvalde, Ricardo Castillo of La Pryor, and Robert Castillo of Friendswood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eduardo Castillo, Juan Castillo, Jose Castillo, Jorge Castillo, Daniel Ochoa, and Jesus Castillo Jr., all of Uvalde, Rogelio Castillo of La Pryor, Carlos Castillo of Fort Worth, and Karlos Samuel Castillo and Kaleb Isaiah Castillo.
