Pura C. Castillo

Pura Cuellar Castillo, 82, of Uvalde died Sept. 6, 2019, in San Antonio.

She was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Mexico to Socorro Sanchez-Cuellar and Teofilo Cuellar Sr.

Castillo was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters-in-law, Linda Bustamante and Guadalupe Castillo; brother, Martin Cuellar; and two sisters, Matilde Cuellar and Jacinta Cuellar.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Carlos Castillo Sr.; seven sons, Carlos Castillo Jr. and spouse, Lupe, of Fort Worth, Ricardo Castillo and spouse, Melva Reyes De Castillo, Edwardo Castillo, Rogelio Castillo, Juan Antonio Castillo, and spouse, Ana Maria, Jose Luis Castillo and spouse, Rosa Castro, and Jorge Castillo and spouse, Stacy Lynn; and four daughters, Yolanda Perez and spouse, Joe, Purificacion Castillo, Maribel Castillo, and Elizabeth Garcia and spouse, Antonio, all of Uvalde; two brothers, Jose Cirilo Cuellar and Teofilo Cuellar Jr.; and two sisters, Rebecca Cuellar and Margarita Cuellar, all of Mexico; 48 grandchildren; 116 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held Tuesday from 1-9 p.m., and a prayer service was held at 7 p.m., in the Chapel of Serenity at  Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home of Uvalde.

A funeral service was held yesterday at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Serenity at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were her seven sons.
