Paula R. Gonzales

Paula Rodriguez Gonzales, 67, of Uvalde died on Sept. 4, 2017, at Main Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1950, in Uvalde to Severa Rodriguez and Antonio V. Gonzales.

She attended Uvalde High School and graduated in 1969. She worked for 17 years at Southwestern Bell, and recently retired from the Uvalde County Appraisal District after working there for more than 33 years. She was also a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by one sister, Senaida R. Gonzales of Uvalde; four brothers, Anastacio R. Gonzales and companion, Lupe Ibarra, Antonio R. Gonzales and wife, Maria, Genaro R. Gonzales and wife, Delma, and Arnulfo R. Gonzales, all of Uvalde; one brother-in-law, Jesus Alfonso Espinoza of Uvalde; five nieces, Elizabeth Guzman and husband, Mario Antonio II, Adriana McNeil and husband, Joshua, Claudia Morquecho and husband, Martin, Gabriella G. Gonzales and Nadia G. Gonzales; five nephews, Anastacio Gonzales Jr., Joseph Gonzales and fiancée, Mandy Roddy, Juan Antonio Gonzales and fiancée, Elma Ruiz, Fabian Gonzales and Joaquine Genaro Gonzales; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary R. Gonzales and Cristina G. Espinoza; one brother, Juan Antonio R. Gonzales; and one niece, Veronica G. Espinoza.

A rosary was recited on Wednesday and again on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

A funeral mass was held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Anastacio Gonzales Jr., Joseph Gonzales, Juan Antonio Gonzales, Fabian Gonzales, Genaro Martinez and Daniel Martinez.

Honorary pallbearers were Jesus Alfonso Espinoza and Joaquine Genaro Gonzales.
