Norma M. Hidalgo
Norma Menchaca Hidalgo, 78, of Uvalde died on Jan. 22, 2018, at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.
A visitation will be held today at 2 p.m. and a prayer service will also be held today at 7 p.m., both at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at La Divina Trinidad Methodist Church, located at 736 S. Getty St. in Uvalde. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
She was born on June 25, 1939, in Uvalde to Serapia (Trevino) and Santos Menchaca Sr.
She married Francisco Hidalgo Sr. on Jan. 8, 1961, in Uvalde.
She was a teacher at Uvalde Consolidate Independent School District for more than 33 years, and was part of the Uvalde Classroom Association and The Texas State Teacher Association.
Hidalgo is survived by her husband, of Uvalde; one daughter, Sarah Hidalgo Cook and husband, Kevin, of Uvalde; one son, Frank Hidalgo Jr. and wife, Dawne, of Newnan, Georgia; one brother, Benjamin Menchaca of Crystal City; five grandchildren, Ryan Michael Hidalgo, David Anthony Hidalgo, Daniel James Hidalgo, Sierah Alexis Cook and Gabrielle Elise Cook; one great-grandson, Jaxon Levi Hidalgo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Santos T. Menchaca Jr. and Isaias Menchaca; and one sister, Gloria Menchaca Robles.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
