Nancy C. Williams, 73, of Uvalde died on April 20, 2019, in San Antonio.

A celebration of life will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Rushing Estes Knowles Mortuary.

She was born on Oct. 26, 1945, in Gardendale to Lucy (White) and Willie Crawford.

The family says she was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend who loved people unconditionally and made everyone feel like family. In addition to her own family, she helped raise others; she held a special place in her heart for young ladies from Whitestone Children’s Home in Uvalde. There she was a house parent and “mom,” a maternal figure to many women she considered to be members of her family. Up until the time of her death, many of them still visited her and kept in close contact.

The family says she was full of wisdom and wisecracks, and loved to laugh out loud; she had a warm heart and a smile that could light up a room. She spoke her mind, and often times could convey her meaning without saying a word. Though she had many challenges in life, she never let any of them keep her down and always found ways to encourage others. Williams will be remembered for her courage, strength and perseverance. She taught her family the value of hard work.

She had a passion for music, and shared it while serving the Lord on the praise and worship team at Trinity Fellowship of Uvalde.

She is survived by three children, Anna Kay (Smith) Moreno and Donna Marie Williams, both of Uvalde and Richard Allen Williams of San Antonio; seven grandchildren, Joseph Moreno and wife, Karina, Jennifer Hernandez and husband, Tim, Armando Moreno and wife, Kadia, Joe Morales, Rebecca Rendon and husband, David, Kaitlin Morales and Mariah Gaytan; and eight great-grandchildren.
