Nancy C. Matetzschk
Nancy Cecile Matetzschk, 75, of Knippa died on March 12, 2019, in San Antonio.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1943, in Austin to Joyce (Gibbons) and Dale McClung.
She attended Southwest Junior College in Uvalde and graduated in 1965. While at SWTJC she was voted freshman class favorite. She was a member of the college rodeo team and qualified in barrel racing and goat tying both years for the national finals held in Douglass, Wyoming. She also worked as an assistant to Charles Wooten in the biology department.
Matetzschk retired from Concordia Lutheran University in Austin, where she was the assistant registrar for more than 20 years.
She spent her final years as a devout member and tireless volunteer of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Knippa.
She is survived by her daughter, Terri Lynn Shelby Black and husband, Charlie, of Knippa; son, Robert Glenn Shelby and wife, Kendra, of Bertram; four grandchildren, Coltin Black, Taylor Black, Trevor Black and Allison Shelby; and fiancé, Elton Dornbusch of Knippa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Joe McClung and Jimmy McClung.
Funeral services were held yesterday at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Nathan Lafrenz officiated. Interment followed at Knippa Cemetery.
