Martha K. Sutherland

Martha Kay Sutherland went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Aug. 24, 2017, at 2 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1950, in Uvalde, Texas. She grew up in Uvalde and moved to Pleasanton around 1971.

Her children believe she was the best mother and grandmother they could ever have and her husband believes she was a saint because she loved and forgave everyone. Her son-in-law told her she was the best example of Christ’s love that he had ever known.

Martha worked for Walco International over 35 years, serving local farmers and ranchers. She also served as a friend and surrogate parent to many who worked with her. She enjoyed fresh water fishing, painting and spending time with her family.

Martha was a two-time cancer survivor and in the end, fought a difficult fight against colon and intestinal degeneration.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Keith Howton Clemens and Ima Ruth Patterson Clemens; her grandparents, Bennett Patterson and Vada Viola Slover Patterson, and Harry Clemens and Iva Howton Clemens; and her uncles, Stanley R. Clemens, Ronald James Clemens and Orvis Akers, and aunts Mary Lee Patterson and Norma Mae Patterson Akers; and younger cousins, Taryn Green and Amanda “Mandy” Akers Morris. She is survived by her husband Keith Sutherland Jr.; her children, Melissa Sutherland Hunt and Keith Sutherland III; their spouses, Robert “Bob” Hunt and Jennie Sutherland; her grandchildren, Seth, Jess, and Eli Hunt, and Ruby and June Sutherland; her aunt, Miriam Clemens; and cousins Deborah Ann Green, Karen Lynne Nottebrok, Ronald James “Ronnie” Clemens Jr., Sherry Akers Imhoff, and Cindy Akers Peters and their families.

A memorial service will be held at Cowboy Fellowship, 561 FM 3350 Jourdanton, Texas, on Saturday, Sept. 2nd at 2 p.m. in the afternoon. Please join our family in celebrating Martha’s life and the love she afforded so many.
