Maria N. Lira
Maria Anna Najera Lira, 72, of Uvalde died on Dec. 29, 2018, in San Antonio.
She was born on April 16, 1946, in Raymondville to Cristina (Mendoza) and Margarito Najera.
She married Juan Lira on May 9, 1970, in Uvalde.
She is survived by four daughters, Cristina Lira Villarreal and husband, Guadalupe, and Virginia Lira, all of Uvalde, Angelita Lira Brumley and husband, Donald Paul, and Juanita Lira, all of Moses Lake, Washington; two sons, Paulo Lira and Domingo Lira and wife, Maria Yolanda, all of Uvalde; four sisters, Aurora Gracia of Belton, Consuelo Najera and San Juana Chavez, both of Uvalde, and Ninfa Najera of Georgia; five brothers, Margarito Najera II of California, Manuel Najera of Georgia, Jesse Najera Sr. and James Najera, both of Uvalde and Enrique Najera of Raymondville; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Maria Louisa Lira; and daughter-in-law, Ernestina S. Lira.
A rosary was recited on Monday and again on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
A funeral service was held yesterday at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.
