Kenneth Carl Roberts Sr., 81, of Knippa died of lung cancer on July 15, 2018, at his residence.
He was born on March 26, 1937, in Chandler, Arizona, to Amanda (Bailey) and Carl Roberts.
He served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. During his time in the service he participated in military wrestling and boxing programs.
He met his future wife, Faye (Horton) Roberts, in Phoenix, Arizona. The couple moved to South Texas. He worked as a diesel mechanic throughout his life. He loved to tell stories and to hunt and fish.
Roberts is survived by his wife, of Knippa; sister, Jo Ann Pierson and husband, Benton, of Missouri; three brothers, Glen Roberts and wife, Emily, of Arizona, Harry Roberts and wife, Lori, and Larry Roberts and wife, Debra, all of Missouri; five children, Edith Roberts and husband, Joey, of Knippa, Kenneth Roberts of Sabinal, Richard Roberts and wife, Robbie, Danny Roberts, and Cindy Roberts, all of Uvalde; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Martha Hunt.
A private memorial service was held on July 22, 2018, at his residence.
