Juan F. Garza

Juan Francisco “Frank” Garza, 63, of Brackettville, died on July 4, 2018, in Brackettville.

He was born on May 28, 1955, in Brackettville to Concepcion (Reschman) and Juan Garza.

Garza and his wife married on Feb. 11, 1978, in Fort Collins, Colorado, and the couple remained together for 40 years, until his death.

He was well known in the sheep shearing community and several surrounding counties for his humor, hard work and willingness to help everyone. The family says he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Annette Jimenez and Brenda Garza.

Garza is survived by his wife, Helen J. Garza of Brackettville; three daughters, Francisca G. Hernandez and husband, Moses, of Brackettville, Mary Ann Pina and husband, Hector, and Enriqueta Garza and husband, Jay Arredondo, all of Del Rio; two brothers, Arturo Townes of Denver, Colorado, and Manuel Garza of Brackettville; sister, Enriqueta Gonzalez of Brackettville; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and a rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m., both at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Brackettville.

A mass of Christian burial was held yesterday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, followed by interment at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Roy Falcon, Jesus Garza, Kermit Gomez, Jesse Martinez, Valentino Morin and Manuel Morin.

Honorary pallbearers were Keith Seaver and Duke Meek, all of Brackettville.

Service arrangements were with Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, 424 Geraldine Street, Uvalde, TX 78801.
