Jose E. Arizmendi 

Jose E. Arizmendi, 81, of Uvalde died on Jan. 16, 2019, in Uvalde.

A visitation was held yesterday and will be held again today from noon to 9 p.m., and a rosary recited at 7 p.m., at the Chapel of Serenity at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home.

A mass of Christian burial will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

He was born on Nov. 18, 1937, in Mexico to Domitila (Barrientos) and Gilberto Arizmendi.

He was proceeded in death by his wife of 51 years, Guadalupe G. Arizmendi; his parents; and two sisters, Maria Garcia and Casimira Arizmendi.

Arizmendi is survived by his son, Joe Arizmendi and wife, Roxanne Zavala, of Uvalde; three daughters, Elizabeth Arizmendi of San Antonio, and Patricia A. Salazar and husband, Ramiro, Cristina

Arizmendi Mirelez and husband, Juan, all of Uvalde; five brothers, Gilberto Arizmendi, Francisco Arizmendi, Rafael

Arizmendi, Rodolfo Arizmendi and Marcelino Arizmendi; and sister, Herminia Torres, all of Uvalde; seven grandchildren; Ramiro Salazar Jr. and companion, Natassia Nevarez, Kassandra Salazar and Alena Salazar, all of Corpus Christi, Zachary Arizmendi and Jason Garcia Jr., both of San Antonio, and Julissa Garcia and Mason Mirelez, both of Uvalde; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew Rendon, Ramiro “Tres” Salazar and Nolan Salazar, all of Uvalde.

Pallbearers will be Arnulfo Arizmendi, Felipe Arizmendi, Rolando Arizmendi, Roberto “Bobby” Morales, Ernesto “Ernie” Luna and Alfred “Boonie” Garza Jr.
