John Stockton, 70, of Mills County, formerly of Uvalde, died on Jan. 28, 2019, in Hamilton County.
He was born on July 22, 1948, in San Angelo to Marie (Pullen) and Bill A. Stockton.
He married Sue Bernard on Jan. 25, 1998, in Lometa.
He was a rancher and an entrepreneur, and a parishioner at the Center City Baptist Church.
Stockton is survived by his wife, of Mills County; five children, Elizabeth Eddy and husband, Dee, of Mission, John Stockton and wife, Christina, and Nici Clark and husband, Bud, all of Copperas Cove, Shawn Simmons and wife, Karie, of San Andreas, California, and Jerad Simmons and wife, Penny, of Ojai, California; 16 grandchildren, Savannah Stockton, Skylar Manis, Noah Stockton, Jasmine Manis, Breanna Manis, Harmony Stockton, Tommy Eddy, Sam Eddy, James Simmons, Morgan Simmons, Santara Simmons, Trevor Simmons, J.D. Stockton, John Tyler Stockton, Dawson Albrecht and Ross Smith; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
A visitation was held Thursday from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite.
A service was held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Center City Baptist Church, followed by interment at 3 p.m. at Fort McKavett Cemetery in
Schleicher County. Dallas Huston officiated the service, assisted by Jeff Chernosky.
Pallbearers were Jim Runyan, Dick Hearn, Doc Krieg, Dee Eddy, Dave Mathes and Jeff Chernosky.
Honorary pallbearers were John Stockton Jr., Shawn Simmons, Jerad Simmons, Cody Burns,
Randy Morrison and Steve Turner.
