Jesus “Jessie” Briones, 62, of Littlefield, died of cancer on Dec. 9, 2018, at his residence.
He was born on Oct. 30, 1956, in Littlefield to Tomasa “Maria” (Samaniego) and Gregorio Briones.
He resided in Uvalde for many years and considered it his home. He later relocated to Littlefield.
The family says he inherited his father’s passion for working in the garden, growing fruit and vegetables. He loved to cook. He enjoyed music and dancing, and was usually the life of the party.
He is survived by his son, Jesse Briones Jr. of Lubbock; two daughters, Jahiada Briones and wife, Sara, and Yesiana Briones, all of Lubbock; five brothers, Juan Gregorio Briones and Jorge Briones, both of Uvalde, Jose Briones of San Antonio, Fidencio Briones and wife, Victoria, and Presciliano Briones, all of La Pryor; four sisters, Bertha “Birdie” Noonan of San Antonio, Elodia “Ellie” Martinez and husband, Roberto, of Big Spring, Lidia Hernandez and husband, Johnny, of Uvalde, and Patricia “Patty” Nevarez and husband, Avery, of Camp Wood; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service was held on Dec. 12, 2018, in Littlefield. Richardo Villanueva of the Kingdom Hall of Jehova’s Witnesses in Littlefield spoke at the service.
Arrangements were by Hillcrest Funeral Home of Littlefield.
