Guadalupe L. Mirelez

Guadalupe L. Mirelez, 75, of Uvalde died on July 7, 2019, in San Antonio.

A funeral mass will be held today at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Uvalde Catholic Cemetery.

He was born on March 20, 1944, in Uvalde to Otelia (Lombrana) and Julio Mirelez.

He married Juanita Jasso on Aug. 8, 1964, in Gilroy, California.

Mirelez was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a grand Knight of Columbus. He was a volunteer at Uvalde Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was a Roadrunner with the Uvalde Chamber of Commerce. He was a truck driver for more than 43 years.

Mirelez is survived by his wife of 53 years, of Uvalde; daughter, Maria Goodell of Arlington; son, Reynaldo J. Mirelez and wife, Jessica Luna, of Uvalde; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Juanita Elena Sanchez; and son, Guadalupe Mirelez Jr.

A visitation was held on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A rosary was recited on Tuesday and again yesterday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

Pallbearers will be Alex Martinez, Adrian Sanchez, Alejandro Mirelez, Reynaldo Mirelez Jr., Dellanira Martinez and Abriana Mirelez.
