Gene Hayes, 76, of Leakey, formerly of Uvalde and Reagan Wells, died on Nov. 4, 2019, at Amistad Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
His ashes will be interred following a graveside service set Sunday, Jan. 12 at 2:30 p.m. at Concan Cemetery. The Rev. Rick Smith of Reagan Wells Baptist Church will officiate the service.
Haynes was born on Aug. 26, 1943, in Utopia to Bonnie Leta (Routh) and Joe Kenton Haynes.
He married Daveene Reynolds on May 28, 1966, in Leakey. He was a carpenter by trade.
He is survived by his wife, of Leakey; five sisters-in-law, Ellen Armstrong and Carol Haynes of Uvalde, Linda Haynes of Utopia, Sandy Haynes of Medina, and Mary Lou Gibson of New Braunfels; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings, Gilbert Haynes, Aubrey Haynes, Jack Haynes, Betty Jo Haynes, Jim Haynes, Elizabeth Beard Edwards and George Beard; and brother-in-law Bobby Joe Hipp.
