Francisca J. Gonzales
Francisca Jaramillo Gonzales, 83, of Uvalde died on Dec. 6, 2017, at her children’s residence.
She was born on March 10, 1934, to Ildifonsa Jaramillo Coronado and Hipolito Jaramillo in San Alberto, Coahuila, Mexico.
The family says her integrity and work ethic began early in life when she was forced to leave school in the third grade to work with her father. She learned lessons about hard work and honesty very early in life. She came to America to work and help care for her growing family back in Mexico. The family says after working for many years in west Texas, she relocated to Uvalde with her sister and began working as a nanny for the Santos family. She also worked in the Santos Drug Store for many years.
There, she met her husband, Jose Luciano Gonzales. They fell in love and married on Jan. 26, 1964, in Sabinas, Coahuila, Mexico.
The family says she was a devoted mother and wife; she was a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Church, La Vela Perpetua and a longtime volunteer at Sacred Heart Catholic School. Volunteer work with her church began in the 1960s, when she volunteered her time to help beautify both the school and church. Her family recalls their mother’s work planting grass for the school, PTO involvements, volunteering for bingo games, and at the annual church festival where she worked countless hours selling tickets. Her grandchildren were her passion – she enjoyed attending football games, baseball games and every school event her health permitted her to attend.
Gonzales is survived by her husband of 53 years; three sons, Antonio J. Gonzales and wife, Paula,
