Faye I. Hawkes
Faye Imogene Hawkes, 90, of Uvalde died on Oct. 19, 2017, in San Antonio.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1926, in Lometa to Rhoda Ann (Haygood) and Shorty Dean.
The family moved to Uvalde where she attended school. She graduated from Uvalde High School in 1944.
She married Lee Marion Hawkes on Jan 1, 1946, in Uvalde.
The couple made Uvalde their home and were active members in the community for the remainder of their adult lives. The family says Hawkes was a faithful member of the Getty Street Church of Christ, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one grandson, Bryan Keith Hawkes.
Hawkes is survived by one sister, Jane Baker and husband, J.R., of La Vernia; four children, Dean Hawkes and wife, Lynette, of Floresville, Debbie McNiel and husband, Ricky, of Uvalde, Becky Suttles of Conroe, and Jill Gill and husband, Duane, of San Antonio; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and life-long friends, Nelda and Tom Boecking of Temple.
Funeral services were held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Knippa Church of Christ. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Uvalde.
