Enrique G. Perez
Enrique G. Perez, 59, of Uvalde died on May 11, 2018, at his residence.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1958, in Uvalde to Manuela (Gutierrez) and Gavriel Perez.
Perez was raised in Uvalde. He was a talented musician who enjoyed composing music. His greatest passion was his family, and he often sang songs he had composed to them. The family says Perez’s most notable song was “Encino” which he composed for his band, Los Gorrincillos, from Uvalde.
He is survived by two sons, Juan Enrique Perez and wife, Angie Vasquez, of Uvalde and Rick Mireles of Kerrville; four daughters, Blanca Antu and husband, Inez Perez, Sarah Perez, and Precious Perez and husband, Donald, all of Uvalde, and Monica Garcia and husband, Mark, of San Antonio; three brothers; Andres Perez of Sabinal and Gabriel Perez Jr. and Juan Perez, both of Uvalde; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; wife, Erma Perez; sister, Estela Perez; and four brothers, Antonio Perez, Armando Perez, Joe Perez and Raymond Perez.
A visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Chapel of Serenity at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, located at 424 Geraldine Street in Uvalde. A mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. yesterday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Estevan Lopez Jr., Ricky Garcia Jr., Ryan Garcia, Jimmy Arreola, Justin Arreola and Jose Luis Vasquez. Honorary pallbearers were Fidencio Garcia, Martin Garcia and Marcos Garcia.
