Elvira T. Montalvo
Elvira T. Montalvo, 87, of Midland died on Aug. 26, 2018, in Midland.
She was born on May 2, 1931, in Knippa to Felicitas (Arizmendi) and Carlos Talavera.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who was involved in her children and grandchildren’s activities, especially sports. A devout Catholic, she was active at Saint James Catholic Church in Sanderson where she served as a Eucharistic minister, a member of the choir, and in the Guadalupanas.
Montalvo is survived by three sons, Daniel Montalvo of Midland, Richard Montalvo and wife, Paula, of Sanderson, and Marco Montalvo and wife Kimberly of Midland; five daughters, Elizabeth Lara and husband, Larry, of Fort Stockton, Maria Alicia Garcia and husband, Joe, of Midland, Laura Spencer and husband, Alex, of Odessa, Susana Gonzales and husband, Jose, of Marathon and Catalina Jimenez and husband, Patrick, of San Antonio; brother, Carlos Talavera Jr. of San Antonio; sister, Estella A. Silva of Uvalde; twenty-eight grandchildren; and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Espiridion Montalvo; daughter, Carmela Montalvo; and three brothers, Manuel Talavera, Ismael Talavera and Richard Talavera.
A visitation was held on Aug. 31, 2018, at 9 a.m., a rosary was recited at 10 a.m., and a funeral service was held at 11 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church in Sanderson. Interment followed at Santa Rita Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the care of Heritage Funeral Home of Fort Stockton.
