Dora L. Payne, 68, of Uvalde died on Feb. 9, 2020, in Converse.

She was born on June 8, 1951, in Uvalde to Esiquia (Velasquez) and Bernandino Lopez.

Payne, who loved to cook, was in the restaurant business for over 25 years. She was the owner of Dora’s Place.

She is survived by four daughters, Brenda Gonzales and Molly Flores and husband, Mario, all of Uvalde, Valerie Payne of Converse, and Diana Carrillo and husband, Isaias, of Universal City; son, Alex Gonzalez and wife, Ester, of Irving, California; sister, Nicolasa Rodriguez of Uvalde; brother, Rogelio Lopez of Uvalde; 16 grandchildren, Alfred Gonzalez, Manuel Gonzalez, Kassandra Gonzalez, Amanda Ibarra, Alexis Gonzalez, Summer Flores, Isaias Carrillo Jr., Brianna Gautraue, Joshua Gonzalez, Alexander Gonzalez, Kiki Carrillo, Kandie Medina, Sophia Carrillo, Jeweliette Carrillo, Ruby Carrillo, and Stormy Flores; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Payne; daughter, Sandy Gonzalez; son, Blas Trevino; sister, Sylvia Lara; three brothers, Bernandino Lopez Jr., Andres Lopez, and Albert Lopez.

Visitation was held Tuesday from 3-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A rosary was recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass was held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, with interment following at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Alfred Gonzalez, Manuel Gonzalez, Joshua Gonzalez, Isaias Carrillo Jr., Summer Flores and Kandie Medina.

Her grandchildren served as honorary pallbearers.
