Dora Charlotte “Dogie” Parks Lacey, 90, of Barksdale died on Jan. 23, 2018 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.

She was born on June 19, 1927, in San Saba to Katie Arcolia (Payne) and Lee Roy Parks.

She married Leonard David Lacey on Sept. 21, 1942, in Uvalde.

The family says Lacey embodied the meaning of the word “tough.” She survived wars, the loss of family members, and painful illness with a fighting spirit, a stubborn will and faith in God.

The family says she cherished her family and was a generous woman who would give you her last dollar or the shirt off her back if it was needed.

Lacey is survived by three children, Larry Lacey and wife, Sharon, of Lipan, Allen “Red” Lacey and wife, Chris, of Camp Wood, and Dora Mae Duff and husband, David, of Greenville; 10 grandchildren, Larry Lacey Jr., Robin Lacey, Sherry Richardson, Carol Belila, Mark Carlisle, Patsy Lacey, Bambi Renfro, Danny Duff, Dana Scheel and Donnie Duff; 23 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and adopted children; an abundance of friends, and her ever present four-legged companion Tippy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters; one son; her husband of 56 years; eight sisters; three brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held Jan. 27, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Barksdale Cemetery.
