Dora C. Hurtado
Dora C. Hurtado, 92, of Brownwood, formerly of Uvalde, died on Jan. 5, 2019, in Brownwood.
She was born on Feb. 6, 1926, in San Saba to Maxima (Martinez) and Jesus Constancia.
The family says she was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family with all her heart. Her greatest passions in life were for God, her family and cooking; she was an excellent cook.
She enjoyed reading, bird watching, and gardening, and she was a member of Templo Cristiano of Uvalde. She had been residing in Brownwood for 10 years.
Hurtado is survived by three children, Manuel Hurtado and wife, Liza, of Uvalde, Dora Lopez and husband, Wilfredo, of Austin and Guillermo Hurtado and wife, Sandy, of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maria C. Perez of Brownwood and Rosa C Reyes of Abilene; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Manuel Hurtado Sr.; son, Benjamin Hurtado; great-grandchild, Kristin Cruz; and four siblings, Jesus Constancia, Amalia Martinez, Gilberto Constancia and Ramona C. Acevedo.
A reception was held on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and a prayer service followed at 7 p.m., both at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service was held yesterday at 1 p.m. at Templo Cristiano. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.
