Darlene H. Zeigel
Darlene Hackley Zeigel, 88, of Uvalde, died on Aug. 26, 2017 at The Veranda assisted living facility in Uvalde.
She was born on June 17, 1929, in Hayden, Colorado, to Jesse LaVern (Hahn) and Charles M. Hackley.
She attended college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
The family says she was a homemaker, an adventurer, and a great mom.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Emmett R. Zeigel; one son, Alan Kent Zeigel; and one daughter, Claudia Romero Rogers and husband, Richard, all of Utopia; one brother, Kent Hackley of Utah; and two grandchildren, Sarah Alyn Romero Hailes, of Arvada, Colorado, and Amanda Dale Romero and husband, Dave Taylor, of Portland, Oregon.
A reception will be held at the Veranda, at a later date.
She made arrangements to donate her body to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Zeigel’s name to Keep Utopia Beautiful, P.O. Box 351, Utopia, TX 78884; or the Uvalde Hospice Foundation, 1038 Garner Field Rd., Uvalde, TX 78801.
Arrangements were with Olinger Mortuary Services in San Antonio.
